Paul C. Tash is the chairman and CEO of the Times Publishing Company.

A native of South Bend, Indiana, Tash graduated summa cum laude in 1976 from Indiana University. He received a Marshall Scholarship and graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of laws degree from Edinburgh University in Scotland in 1978.

He started with the Times that fall as a local news reporter and worked his way through various news jobs – including Washington bureau chief – to become the editor of the Tampa Bay Times and chief executive of the company.

Tash is chairman of the Poynter Institute for Media Studies, a school for journalists and media leaders, which owns Times Publishing. He has served on the boards of America’s leading journalism organizations, including the Associated Press, the Committee to Protect Journalists, and the Pulitzer Prizes, where he was the chairman.

In 2012, Tash received the Distinguished Alumni Service Award from Indiana University, and he was inducted to the Indiana Journalism Hall of Fame the following year.

Tash is married to the former Karyn Krayer of St. Petersburg, a high school teacher. They have two daughters, a physician and a lawyer, and twin grandchildren.

The Tampa Bay Times is Florida’s leading newspaper and is widely considered among the country’s best newspapers. It has won 12 Pulitzer Prizes, including two prizes in 2016 for local and investigative reporting. Until 2012, the newspaper was known as the St. Petersburg Times, but changed its name to reflect its growth throughout the Tampa Bay region. In 2016, the Times acquired the Tampa Tribune, making the Times one of the 10 largest newspapers in the country.
