Times Publishing Company Names New Board Members; Announces Promotion

 TAMPA BAY, FL – The Board of Directors of the Times Publishing Company is adding David Denor, Carolyn Fox, Jessi Navarro and Jay Rey as its newest members. 

Denor, 52, is the publisher of Florida Trend, a statewide magazine and website read by senior business executives, civic leaders and government officials. Before joining Florida Trend, Denor was vice president of business development for a full-service digital agency in Milwaukee. He also spent 15 years leading business and sales operations at Crain’s Chicago Business. 

Fox serves as managing editor of the Tampa Bay Times. In addition to overseeing the Times’ newsroom coverage, she also is responsible for its digital strategy and related products. Fox, 41, joined the Times in 2019. She also has worked at the Times Picayune in New Orleans as its managing editor and at Advance Local, where she directed content strategy and market communications for 11 news sites in the United States. Fox began her career at USA Today. 

Rey, 44, joined Times Publishing Company in 2007 as a sales manager at Tampa Bay Newspapers, a community newspaper group that covers Pinellas, Pasco, Hernando and Hillsborough counties. Rey has held a variety of positions at the regional newspaper group, including as its general manager and associate publisher. Rey was named president and publisher of TBN in 2021. 

Navarro is chief operating officer and chief financial officer of the Poynter Institute, a school for journalists that owns the Tampa Bay Times. Before joining Poynter, she worked for the Tampa Tribune as a business and financial analyst and later as controller of TBO.com, the Tribune’s news website. Navarro, 40, also was a founding partner and chief financial officer of a digital media startup. 

The Times also announced a promotion for Joe DeLuca, one of its longtime senior leaders. 

DeLuca, 65, was named president of the Tampa Bay Times. During his more than two decades at the Times, DeLuca has served as executive vice president and general manager and led some of the company’s most important initiatives, including its Tampa edition and more recently, its strategic planning group. 

“All of these appointments add to the great talents and perspectives of our leadership team,” said Conan Gallaty, the Times’ chairman and chief executive. “They are innovators within our company and our industry. I have full faith in their ability to guide our future course.”
